New! Beyonce Bow Down/ I Been On

Everyone has been anticipating a new song from the Queen Bey herself. If you say you are not a fan, then you're a damn lie.

Although I am not a part of the "BeyHive", I still appreciate a nice little Beyonce tune, love watching her performances and find myself in awe over everything she has done with her career. With all that being said, I have an opinion about this new song of hers, Bow Down.

It is terrible. Simple as that.

I hate when artists boast about things we already know. There is no need for someone of her stature to belittle her fans. Not only does this song; 1) Make me not want to listen to her anymore but 2) lowers my respect for her. Being the God fearing woman that she is, Beyonce should be ashamed. I'm no Christian, but I know he does not like it when people brag.

He said it himself!

Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches."

Now you may say.
"Other artist do it all the time."
Yes! They do.

Let's use Rihanna for example; I love her life, her image and everything there is to love about that woman. She is no freshman to calling out the "Basic Bitches." While she is only 25 years old. Ri has built her image off of being that overly cocky, absolutely transparent, person that most people love and others envy. I don't agree with everything she stands for, but this is what her image is about. She's always been a little raunchy and that's her thing.

Beyonce on the other hand has built this image of the "perfect" woman. Guys dream of being with her and girls dream of being her. A respectful and powerful, independent woman who is also "strong enough to bear the children."

With the song Bow Down, Beyonce is blatantly a I-am-better-than-you role.

Everyone that "dreamed" of being in her world; The world of trophies, pageants and ponies in H-town should step aside for the Queen. People that were not as fortunate as she, the mere 99% of the world, her fans.

Being that Beyonce is 31 years old, is now a mother and has been endorsed by the likes of Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey, bad timing is an understatement.

Aside from the meaning behind the song, the actual sound is terrible. Beyonce can sing!

Wait let me re-phrase that, Beyonce can SANG and this does nothing for her talent. It degrades it if you ask me. With all of the generic, chopped and screwed effects and dumbed-down lyrics that only she can relate to, it does nothing for my ears.

I guess what I am trying to say is that I do not like this idea of Beyonce transforming into this cocky being that hovers over all her fans. Someone that just talks about how much she has, and what we do not have. Honestly Mr. Carter-Knowles and Kanye does that enough for all the artist in the world.

Of course an artist has to change their image, sound and what they are bringing to the table every time they release new music to stay relevant. I can never totally understand what she goes through to make sure her career is thriving but I know that boasting is not necessary in the process.

I'm just a disappointed fan and I don't want this to be the new Beyonce. Leave that up to the new-up-and-coming artist that have to prove themselves to the world, Bey.

On the other hand, I do believe in artistic expression. (Thats all I have for that side of the argument)

Check the song out for yourself and tell me what you think!
